The steps are EASY to follow!

1. Place a Locate Request by calling 811. MissDig processes your locate request and members will locate and mark their utilities. Be sure to keep the ticket number provided to you when placing your locate request.

Lowell Light and Power is a participating utility member. MISS DIG notifies us where and when you will be working.  We will mark our underground utility lines with red paint and/or flags and ensure adequate clearance of overhead electric lines. This is necessary so that you do not damage them and/or harm yourself.  These flags should not be pulled out until the excavation is complete.

2. Wait the mandatory 3 business days, even if all utilities have been marked.

3. Confirm the Status Online. You are required to check Positive Response before digging. You will need the ticket number you were provided when placing your request.

4. Hand Dig only – when digging within four feet of paint or flags.

5. Dig cautiously and safely. Once you’ve hand exposed the underground utilities, you can carefully continue to dig using the necessary tools.
